Faith communities receive education materials as well as access to classes and workshops. In addition, Lay Health Champions are trained to teach nutrition/cooking demonstrations and co-deliver the 9-week Faithful Families curriculum.

Education Materials

Health education materials such as handouts, posters, and toolkits are available. Some materials will be used to promote monthly health observances and host themed Sunday service activities. See toolkit examples below.

Power Sunday

Power Sunday is designed to increase stroke awareness and prevention through faith communities across the nation. Faith communities host a Power Sunday to provide congregants with information and tools they need to save lives.

Train the Trainer cooking demonstration workshops

Lay Health Champions serving on their Health Ministry Teams receive training to facilitate demonstrations for their congregations.

Community wide challenges to increase physical activity and healthy eating

Challenges such as the Faithful Families walking challenge are open to the public and held annually at local churches. These challenges include education and peer support.
